About Edyn McKirdy

Industrial Design Student Hello! I’m Edyn McKirdy, a 5th-year Industrial Design student at Carleton University, where I’ve consistently earned a place on the Dean’s Honor List and maintained a strong academic standing. Before pursuing design, I completed a Certificate of Science at Concordia University, which provided me with a strong analytical base to support my creative practice.I’m passionate about blending aesthetics with functionality and thrive in environments that challenge me to think critically and design meaningfully. My skill set includes 3D modeling, Adobe Creative Suite, and hands-on prototyping, and I enjoy working across disciplines—from studio art to product and communication design.I interned for 8 months at PACO, a lighting design company, where I worked as a Graphic Design Intern on the marketing team. There, I helped develop branded content, created visual assets for digital campaigns, and supported storytelling around PACO’s custom lighting products and installations. In 2025, I had the incredible opportunity to study abroad at Kansai Gaidai University in Japan, where I deepened my understanding of Japanese design, culture, and craftsmanship. Through immersive coursework and travel, I gained firsthand experience in cross-cultural collaboration and design thinking on a global scale.I’m fluent in English and French, and I have working familiarity with Japanese developed during my time abroad.Currently, I’m seeking opportunities in design that allow me to contribute to impactful projects, continue learning, and collaborate with innovative teams.
