About Effirul Ramlan
I hold a PhD in Computer Science from University of Southampton (2009). I was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Malaya (from 2009 - 2019), Ulster University (2019-2021) and University College Dublin (from 2021 until recently) before taking up an academic appointment at University of Galway in 2022. I was seconded as the Director of Research at Malaysia Genome Institute (MGI) from 2017 to 2019. My main research interests are in the field of biological and molecular computing especially in engineering synthetic molecular devices using nucleic acids (computational nucleic acids), bio-inspired algorithm for optimisation and applied AI for life science solutions. I also served as the Technical Director for Datalytics [ a meta-data AI startup for your unconventional AI solutions.
