About Ehren Dixon

PhD-qualified Electrochemist with a strong background in electrochemical materials, micro/nano device fabrication, and sensor development. My research at the Tyndall National Institute (University College Cork), under the VistaMilk SFI Research Centre, focused on creating next-generation electrocatalytic sensors for detecting agri-based gas and liquid pollutants using novel electrochemical materials. I hold an MSc in Chemistry with research focused on ultrasoft magnetic materials for micro-inductor devices, and a BScEd in Chemistry & Science Education, with hands-on teaching experience. Over the course of my PhD, I’ve led interdisciplinary projects involving advanced microfabrication (photolithography, electroplating, etching), sensor calibration using electroanalytical techniques (CV, CA), and materials characterisation (SEM, TEM, XRD, EDX, AFM, Profilometry). In parallel to my research, I’ve been an active leader in academic and public engagement communities; hosting outreach events, serving on postgraduate committees, and mentoring undergraduate students in both laboratory and academic settings.
