About Ehsan Kabir

Ehsan is currently working as a Lecturer in Public Service Management within the Faculty of Creative Industries, University of South Wales. He engages a wide range of topics including risk-emergency management, resource management, conflict, violence and research methods. Previously, Ehsan worked at Lancaster University, UK (from July 2020 to August 2022). There he worked on an exciting international project GCRF LIVING DELTAS HUB focusing on 3 major deltas in Asia, The Red River, The Mekong & The Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna. Ehsan’s main focus involved the patterns and drivers of livelihood shifts, with specific focus on young entrepreneurs’ role in diversifying livelihoods. Before that (May 2019 - May 2020), he worked at University of South Wales in an inter-disciplinary research project that explored the experience of violence and loss of dignity among the forcibly displaced Rohingyas in Bangladesh and Internally Displaced People in Afghanistan. Ehsan holds a PhD in Environmental Studies (2014-2018) from Griffith University Australia. His thesis compares different drivers of vulnerability that are influencing individual’s decisions to migrate from their geographic origins in Bangladesh. He also worked as a Sessional Lecturer (teaching staff) at Griffith University and taught courses - Global Environmental Challanges; and, Climate Change and Sustainable Growth in Asia. Prior to that, he worked as an Assistant Professor (2012-2014) at Dhaka School of Economics, a constituent institution of the University of Dhaka. Ehsan also worked as a Lecturer at University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (2010-2011). Earlier, Ehsan completed a MA in International Development and Environmental Analysis from Monash University Australia and Bachelor’s degree in social science from Independent University Bangladesh.
