About Ehsan Ullah

I am healthcare professional with specialist training in laboratory medicine/pathology. I did PhD in biomedical sciences, informatics and automation of healthcare systems. I sparingly collaborate with academia for research and innovation, mainly to drive efficiency gains and service improvement with use of AI and automation. I am a member of an ISO expert panel for a new ISO standard to regulate devices using AI for diagnostic medicine. I am currently working at Surgical Services, Health New Zealand Counties Manukau, Auckland. Prior to this, I managed departments of Anatomical Pathology, Cytology & Electron Microscopy at LabPlus (providing secondary, tertiary and national referral services for Auckland City & Greenlane Hospitals and other referrers from across New Zealand); Auckland region's Community Anatomical and Cytology Services including Cervical Screening & Molecular/Genetic HPV testing; and National Perinatal Pathology Service of New Zealand. In past, I have project managed National Pilot on Sepsis Ready Programme, led development of a national comms strategy, led MIQ (Managed Isolation and Quarantine) facilities at provincial/regional level, being part of the successful implementation of molecular/genetic testing for Human Papilloma Virus as primary screening test for cervical cancer. I am a lifelong learner. Human factors, teamwork, systems thinking and continuous improvement are my favorite reading in leisure time.
