About Eila Pattee

Eila Pattee, eilapattee@gmail.com In my high school yearbook, there was a picture of me in a chemistry lab with a big smile on my face and the tagline “Enjoying while learning”. That picture says so much about me. I am a Medical Laboratory Scientist (a.k.a. Medical Technologist or Med Tech) who loves to learn new things, particularly in any sub-specialty in medicine. I also enjoy communicating what I have learned to others, which explains my enthusiasm for training, teaching, and medical writing. I am a goal-oriented person who deliberately changed my career to medical writing to expand my learning opportunities. Steps to attaining my goal included joining the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) and earning certificates from AMWA, earning my master’s degree in Orthopaedic Regulatory and Clinical Affairs, and taking a Medical Writing Internship at Zimmer Inc. because you are never too old to learn. In my current position, I learn about medical and diagnostic devices every day and strive to present that information in a clear, concise and engaging manner. I look forward to my future in medical writing because there is so much more to learn!
