About Eileen Jackson

I am an educator with experience in management, governance, strategic planning, and mediation. I am strongly committed to education and work in its promotion in various fora. I have over 30 years' experience as an educationalist, including as a Teacher and Principal of a primary school, encompassing all aspects of educational provision in Ireland and abroad, both in the public and private sector. My roles have included leadership and motivation, while also ensuring the highest standards of professionalism, and promoting positive communication, as well as policy formulation and development. I am Freedom of Information and Data Protection Officer at Marino Institute of Education (MIE) in Dublin. I am a lecturer in Corporate Governance and Ethics at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. As well as completing a Masters in Educational Management (TCD), I have pursued a wide range of CPD courses and training on a continuous basis, in areas addressing additional educational needs, ICT, promotion of staff and children’s wellbeing, child protection, and mediation. I successfully completed the Diploma in Corporate Governance (UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School) in 2019, and am currently undertaking the Doctorate in Governance (DGov) programme at the IPA Whittaker School of Government and Management. With an active interest in Governance best practice, I have been a member of numerous boards (including in the State, Charity and Not-for-Profit sectors) including the National Museum of Ireland, where I was a member of the Development and Corporate Committee; the Church of Ireland Board of Education; the NCCA’s Early Childhood and Primary Board; and Children’s Books Ireland. I am a non-executive director at AsIAm (Ireland's national autism advocacy charity), and at BUMBLEance (the Children's Ambulance Service of Ireland). I have been centrally involved with many State initiatives in the context of educational development, including the NCCA’s ECPB, the Commission on School Accommodation (CSA), and the Teaching Council. I have a long-standing commitment to inclusion and respect for diversity, having instigated and implemented programmes involving inter-cultural and cross-community cooperation, collaboration and understanding, as well as initiation of programmes to support children with additional educational and other needs in their integration in mainstream education.
