About Elaina Kenyon

I am currently a Research Toxicologist and principle investigator in the Computational Exposure and Toxicokinetics Branch of the Chemical Characterization and Exposure Division within the Center for Computational Toxicology and Exposure at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) in Research Triangle Park, NC. My research interests are in the general areas of xenobiotic metabolism and disposition, in vivo to in vitro extrapolation (IVIVE) and development and evaluation of physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models. Since coming to EPA in 1995, my research has focused on these areas for contaminants of concern in drinking water. I received my doctorate in Public Health from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1990 concentrating in environmental health and biostatistics, and was a postdoctoral fellow at CIIT from 1992-1995. I currently serve on the Science Advisory Board for the state of North Carolina, the editorial board of the journal Toxicology and have served on the Board of Directors for the American Board of Toxicology (2014-2018). I have been a member of the Society of Toxicology (SOT) since 1990 and have served SOT in the past as secretary-treasurer for NC SOT, treasurer of the Biological Modeling Specialty Section, secretary-treasurer for the Risk Assessment Specialty Section, co-chair of the Contemporary Concepts in Toxicology (CCT) committee and President of the Risk Assessment Specialty Section.
