About Elana Natker

How better to quench a thirst for knowledge than to study nutrition? That’s exactly what Elana Natker did. After eight successful years working in public relations, counseling business clients in health, safety, restaurant and fitness industries, Elana returned to school full-time to earn a master’s degree in nutrition and become a registered dietitian. What most motivates Elana is the abundance of misleading nutrition information and advice flooding the marketplace and in the media. She considers it her personal goal to learn as much as she can about nutrition research and trends, and to help calm hysteria around current fads and so-called “diets.” Throughout her degree program and since, Elana has never ventured far from the communications field. She is now a communications professional specializing in food and nutrition. She has also worked for public relations agencies in Chicago and Denver, though she now resides in the Washington, D.C, area with her husband, two children and dog (who also doubles as her office mate). Elana graduated with a B.S. in public communication from American University and earned her M.S. in food science and human nutrition from Colorado State University. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the International Affiliate of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She is also active in various Dietetic Practice Groups including Dietitians in Business Communications (DBC) and Nutrition Entrepreneurs (NE).
