Passionate Plant Geneticist with a PhD in Agronomy from the University of Florida and 7+ years of experience developing gene editing and transformation protocols in challenging crops across industry and academia. I am a enthusiastic scientific communicator and technical writer, with the ability to adapt presentations and reports to cater to audiences of all sizes and knowledge levels, evidenced by authorship on seven peer reviewed articles, 18 presentations at national and international conferences, and 11 awards for research and communication. Experience encompasses - • Expanding the scope of traditional CRISPR targeted mutagenesis, base-editing, and/or PAM-less Cas9s within highly polyploid sugarcane, wheat, recalcitrant sorghum, camelina, and Arabidopsis. • Designing and completing the first APHIS regulated, peer reviewed field trial for transgenic sugarcane, with sugarcane lines containing a scale editing frequencies and altered leaf inclination angle phenotypes (biomass increase of 18%). • Optimizing non-NGS mutation screening platforms to decrease genotyping costs by 94%. • Developing and implementing a successful CRISPR gene editing SOP for recalcitrant sorghum. • Collaborating with internal and external teams to ensure efficient transfer of materials, quality control, adherence to safe transfer regulations, EH & S standards, and data and asset management. • Utilizing time and people management skills to coordinate and train 10+ junior scientists on 5+ large scale multidisciplinary projects in goal orientated environments, adapting to new challenges as they arose.
