About Eleanor Jackson

Eleanor Jackson is the Program Manager for STRONG kids STRONG future, an initiative designed to improve the developmental outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children through research, development and distribution of the first, culturally safe developmental screening tool (ASQ-TRAK) and innovation in culturally appropriate development assessment (ASQ-STEPS). She works closely with the Program Lead to develop the long-term STRONG kids STRONG strategy, including strategic engagement with internal and external stakeholders, including Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations. Eleanor is also the author of Gravidity and Parity, and known for her work as a strategic advisor, senior leader and creative storyteller with experience spanning international development, higher education and the creative arts. She has contributed strategic leadership for community projects related to gender, sexual and reproductive health; maternal and child health; and gender-based violence, and evidence-based practice among other themes. Most recently, she led transformational change initiatives around justice and equity for Oxfam Australia before parenting in the pandemic prompted a necessary change. As an activist, artist and community member, she has a long-term commitment to addressing the interrelated concerns of discrimination and inequality on the basis of sex, race and sexuality, particularly as Chair of Peril Magazine, Australia’s longest running online journal of Asian Australian arts and culture.
