About Eleanor Rhode

I am a theatre and film director and writer, born and raised and living in London.My work has toured the UK and internationally, and I’ve directed shows with major national companies, including the Royal Shakespeare Company, Shakespeare’s Globe and The Almeida. My recent productions including A Midsummer Night’s Dream for the Royal Shakespeare Company, starring Mathew Baynton, which transferred to the Barbican in December 2024; the world premiere of Boudica for Shakespeare’s Globe, starring Gina McKee; and the critically acclaimed major revival of Richard Bean’s Toast, which toured the UK and transferred to New York. My audio production of Mrs Wickham by Sarah Page for Audible won the 2022 Audie Award for Best Original Work. My latest audio collaboration with Sarah – Billionaire for Sale– will be released on Audible in 2025.I am also the Co-Creative Director of Clay Productions, creating compelling experiences across theatre, live events and in the corporate and retail sectors. We bridge the gap between concept and production and provide narrative and technical cohesion on a wide range of projects, overseeing development from initial concept to final delivery.I am on the board of Stage Directors UK, the trade union for stage directors, choreographers and movement directors across the UK. We represent the interests of stage directors, choreographers and movement directors, and campaigns for better rights and working conditions.
