About Elena Martoni

As can be seen from my curriculum vitae my primary research goals are toward molecular and genetic studies spread all over muscular dystrophies by using in vivo” and “in vitro” cell cultures, PCR-based techniques, mice models, signaling pathways, novel cationic nanoparticles and imaging modalities to discover new genes involved in the pathogenesis disease and monitor disease progression and therapeutic response in clinical trials. As postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Human Genetics International Centre for Life, University of Newcastle upon Tyne, with Prof. Kate Bushby I improved my knowledge on next generation sequencing (Illumina platform) employing for resequencing and transcrittomic biomarker discovery. Over the years I have conducted research and supervised undergraduates, junior postdoctoral and PhD candidates.
