A Commitment to Inclusion and Change. I’ve always believed that real change begins with people, not just policies. Advocating for underrepresented communities and ensuring people have access to meaningful support isn’t just a profession - it’s my purpose. Growing up in a migrant family, I witnessed firsthand how language barriers, cultural differences, and systemic gaps could turn even the simplest tasks into overwhelming challenges. My grandparents arrived in Australia with nothing but determination to create a better future for their children. They worked hard, became part of a thriving community, and achieved success - yet they never truly felt like they belonged. Ultimately, they made the difficult decision to return home, sacrificing the life they had built because inclusion was out of reach. That experience shaped my belief that no one should have to fight to feel accepted and understood. I began my career as a journalist, amplifying the voices of my community. But I soon realised I wanted to do more than report on one community and its challenges - I wanted to be part of the solution. This led me to roles in community services, from the Cancer Council to Migrant Resource Centres, where I saw how the right support at the right time can transform lives. Today, I’m privileged to lead an organisation that delivers culturally responsive services, empowering diverse communities in Western and the Inner West of Sydney to thrive and feel a genuine sense of belonging. I’ve seen the power of investment in the right support systems- A young man breaking free from a cycle of trouble is now studying with a scholarship- A woman who once sought settlement support is one of our Board Directors- A domestic violence survivor who rebuilt her life through our programs became an integral member of our team, helping others find stability and opportunity. These aren’t just stories; they’re tangible proof that early intervention, respect, and opportunity can transform lives. My work extends beyond running programs - it’s about shifting mindsets. It’s about ensuring that when someone walks through our doors, they aren’t seen as a ‘client’ or a ‘case’ but someone with potential and a future.
