About Eli Card

I am a writer at heart, and my software development is fueled by it. Writing used to be my fork in the road. I wanted to write more than anything, but my skills in math superseded art in school."It's too risky." I had those words etched into my brain for years. Yet, the desire to write nagged at me. I continued the craft despite opposition, hoping that the fire wouldn't burn out before I put it to use. Then, I found programming, and it didn't take long to see the two fields collide. Developing code became a special form of writing, like creating a universe and watching it generate before my eyes. Each application, a special sandbox with its own rules, directions, and results, like a book's magic system. When I got my first software engineering internship, I realized my writing background did more for me than I anticipated. Sure, there was the documentation, code readability, and formatting standards, but understanding the company's architecture became a discovery process. I wanted to explore their code, understand the nuances that drove it, and gain a holistic view of their application. What's more, I wanted to help them write their story, and in that way, I'm more of a writer than I ever imagined I'd be. I am a Senior undergraduate student with 2 years of software engineering experience in web application development. My specialties include quickly understanding software architecture, learning new skills, and communicating ideas to team members. I have developed in TypeScript, Python, JavaScript, and C++. My front-end development specializes in TypeScript React applications, and my back-end focuses on SQL databases, AWS architecture, and Docker. I'm constantly learning new skills, tools, and frameworks to aid in the development process, and discovering the intricacies that make software work.
