About Eli Krasnoff

See more about me at My latest project involved researching the viability of mycelium-the root of fungus-as a biomaterial for tissue engineering applications. I hoped to advance our knowledge on its potential as an all-natural, low-cost, tunable bioscaffold that doesn't need to be functionalized. Before that, I tried pioneering a novel mosquito repellent based on mosquito's innate response to natural sources of danger; a venture critical in combating mosquito-borne diseases. At the California Medical Innovations Institute, we collaborated to enhance research integrity through a custom Python program and addressed bioimpedance experiment inconsistencies. This work not only reflects our dedication to public health but also underscores a strong foundation in research planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and technical problem-solving. Balancing research with education, my journey at The Loomis Chaffee School and participation in advanced programs at Stanford and the University of Cambridge has honed my competencies in newtonian physics, quantum mechanics, biomedical engineering, and mechanical engineering. My academic pursuits are geared towards leveraging scientific innovations for entrepreneurial ventures that promise significant societal impact. Recently, I participated in the Garcia Scholars Program, where I worked to develop a novel drug delivery system for an antibacterial paste for root canal treatments, and I worked with a team to revise a 3D manifold created the year before that related the concentration, thickness, and molecular weight of monodisperse polystyrene thin films on silicon wafers. We hope to expand it to polydisperse polystyrene thin films, which would grant our research greater applicability to real-world industry. In my downtime I love to blacksmith, play guitar, and golf.
