About Elijah Kirkman

As a CPS Conservatorship Caseworker at Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, I am passionate about ensuring the safety and well-being of children and families in crisis. I take over cases from Investigation caseworkers after children are removed from their homes and placed in care outside their homes. I work with children, families, and communities to plan for a child's permanent living arrangement, finding potential permanent placements for the child by meeting with parents, family members, and other stakeholders. I also determine each child’s needs and arrange for additional testing, evaluations, records, or further assessments they need, and make sure the people who are caring for the children have what they need and keep them informed about the case. In addition to my current role, I am pursuing a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling/Counselor at University of Phoenix, expected to graduate in 2024. I have a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Corrections from the same university. I have a diverse background in social work, mental health, and criminal justice, with previous experience as a Juvenile Officer at Travis County, a Behavioral Therapist at Empower Therapy, and a U.S. Army Specialist. I have acquired multiple certifications, including Cyber Risk Management, 10X Marketing, and Advanced First Aid & CPR. I also have a skill in energy healing, such as Reiki, which I use to help others heal from trauma and stress. I am determined to make a positive impact that will heal the following generations.
