About Elisa Colon

With 27 years in education, I’ve dedicated my career to helping students thrive — academically, socially, and emotionally. As a bilingual school counselor, I’ve supported students through life-changing transitions, including some of their most painful and courageous moments. One of my proudest experiences was helping a student safely leave an abusive home, earning his trust and guiding him through a system he once feared. That moment reaffirmed what I’ve always believed: trust is the foundation of healing and change. I stay calm in crisis and lead with empathy, while also practicing the same coping skills I teach — like breathwork, music, and reflection — to stay grounded and present. Whether I’m dancing to Taylor Swift to shake off the day or unwinding with a comedy, I believe emotional wellness is essential for both students and educators. Outside of work, my heart belongs to my family. Time with my grandchildren in Arizona or with my siblings and parents in California keeps me centered, joyful, and fueled for the work I love. Let’s connect — especially if you value compassion, equity, and student-centered leadership.
