About Elise Matton

I'm an educator, coach, historian, and community builder who believes learning should be meaningful, deeply human, and a little bit joyful. In the classroom, I teach AP History with intention and care, crafting structured, interactive lessons that help students build real skills while staying engaged. I create a supportive, low-stress environment where students feel safe to ask questions, take risks, and grow into thoughtful, curious, and confident learners. Outside the classroom, I’ve helped shape the Speech & Debate world as a coach, tab staff member, judge educator, and equity-minded leader. I'm also a lifelong learner myself — I thrive in academic spaces, always reflecting, refining, and finding new ways to grow. Whether I’m guiding students through historical analysis or coaching them to find their voice in a final round, I lead with warmth, enthusiasm, and a commitment to integrity, clarity, and joy.
