About Elizabeth C. Bottorff

I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Minnesota, where I investigate the impact of epidural spinal cord stimulation on sexual function after spinal cord injury (SCI). My research interests include electrical neuromodulation, pelvic neurophysiology, and women's health. My long-term goals are to: 1) Develop rigorous, pre-clinical models for specific aspects of sexual function (e.g, libido, arousal) to maximize clinical translatability 2) Create useful sexual dysfunction guidance and diagnostics for the SCI community 3) Explore disparities at the intersection of pelvic health, disability, and gender to better translate research into interventions that include underrepresented communities I intend to accomplish this vision with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare providers, people with lived experience, end-users, public health professionals, psychophysiologists, neuroscientists, engineers, students, and beyond.
