About Elizabeth E. Monroe
I began my professional career in retail management which continued for just under 8 years. During which time I was promoted to store manager and one of the youngest in my district. I decided to switch gears and try hospital administration which more related to my educational track. Hospital Administration was full of various experiences which enhanced my professional portfolio in a capacity I was not expecting. I was able to obtain front line experience in A/P, purchasing, not for profit accounting, project management, procurement strategies, contract management among other skills. During my eight years in the healthcare field I was promoted several times earning a title and salary increase with each transition. I managed the budget to several capital construction projects and assisted in the coordination of vendor selection process in order to realize major cost savings for the organization. I then took a position with the college I was attending in the admissions department. The introduction into academia was enlightening but as an accounting major I wanted to take a stab at public accounting once I obtained my bachelor degree. My current position at Pace University encompasses all my prior work experience and allows me to support students and faculty for higher education. As well as contract negotiation and all the purchasing and A/P functions, I am now also heavily involved with financial forecasting, budget management, faculty credit load and payroll management. In addition to these skills I am also versed in our Oracle and SciQuest DBMS systems. I have not been able to narrow down one type of skill set I have experience in and rate it one over the other, I rather enjoy doing a level of each in my daily work routine. I have accomplished a valued reputation within my college and I am a key component in the development of new programs, cost savings initiatives and other ventures contributing to the five-year plan.
