About Elizabeth Gress

With a background in chemistry and a current role in academic library access services, I bring a unique combination of scientific insight, front line service experience, and a strong commitment to equity and inclusion to higher education. As Chair of the Diversity, Social Justice, and Equity Council, I’ve led campus-wide efforts to build more inclusive environments through organizing equity-focused trainings and advising institutional leadership on navigating today’s complex political and social landscape. This work has sharpened my skills in advocacy, communication, and strategic planning—tools I believe are essential for librarianship in the 21st century. My goal is to become a STEM librarian with a focus on teaching and research support. I’m especially passionate about information literacy instruction, empowering students to develop critical research skills, and partnering with faculty to support scholarly inquiry in the sciences. I’m driven by the belief that libraries are for everyone—and I’m committed to creating spaces where learning is accessible, inclusive, and transformative.
