About Elizabeth Mitchell
I am a senior at ERAU-Prescott and currently pursuing my commercial helicopter license. I am also the student leader of a research project that is evaluating the effectiveness of using a VR flight simulator for flight into inadvertent IMC. The project is based on HAI's 56 seconds to live and aims to increase pilots' awareness for avoiding the situation as well as how to react if they do ever encounter IIMC. Most of the data collected is going to be collected at HAI's Heli-Expo in 2022. Findings and data will be passed on to USHST. In my previous years at ERAU, I was part of the AIAA Design Build Fly club for 3 years as a member then vice president/chief engineer then president/project manager. The first year as a member the club was not able to compete at the DBF competition but both of the following years we competed and placed 25th out of 104 and 36th out of 101. Last year I was not involved as much but the team placed 8th out of 92.
