About Elizabeth Ramirez

My passion and my work are one and the same: all things special education. I am a special education teacher specializing in self-contained settings. I have led self-contained autism classes in grades K-7. I firmly believe in equitable instruction for all students founded in empirical research and evidence-based practices. I believe in meeting individuals where they are to further their skills while validating their particular brand of personhood, and this remains true whether the individual is a student or staff member. My goal is largely to equip students with the knowledge and ability to harness their personal agency while simultaneously empowering administrators, parents, teachers, and paraprofessionals to celebrate each individual for all the strengths they have to offer. I hold NJ Standard Certificates in K-6 Instruction, 5-8 Social Studies, 5-8 Mathematics, and the endorsement for Teacher of Students with Disabilities. I am a certified trainer for Safety Care Crisis Prevention Training and train staff throughout my current district to become Safety Care specialists. I hold an M.A. in Quantitative Methods and an Ed.M. in Special Education.I enjoy reading peer-reviewed journals in search of best practices, and I believe firmly that there is always something new to learn.
