About Ella Ackerman
I am a recent Magna Cum Laude Honors graduate from VCU with a B.S. in Health Science and a minor in Psychology. I have a passion for accessibility and have been a water safety instructor since 2016. I specialize in working with children and adults who have developmental or physical disabilities. Aquatics can be a beneficial form of therapy and exercise to increase accessibility, but safety is most important! My role teaching swim lessons has led me toward my career passion of Occupational Therapy. I will be taking a gap year beginning in July 2023 to travel around the world with a focus on volunteer work in Southeast Asia. I can't wait to see where these new experiences take me! I plan on applying to graduate school for an Occupational Therapy Doctorate degree in 2024.
