About Ella Beames

I am working as the Marketing Communications Director at the American Heart Association in New York City. Our organization works relentlessly to fundraise, advocate, and collaborate to end heart disease, the globe's number one killer. Heart disease is the number one killer of women and kills more people each year than all forms of cancer combined. In addition to advancing health science, the Association works closely with communities throughout the five boroughs to improve access to quality food and chronic disease prevention resources, like high blood pressure monitoring. We want to provide every New Yorker with the tools and resources necessary to not only save other lives, but protect their own, as well. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Bellarmine University in 2025 with a major in Communication and a minor in Sports Studies. During my undergraduate career I interned with the American Heart Association as their Marketing Communications Intern of Impact in 2024. I managed Bellarmine University's NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse team, developing an engaging social media plan, increasing average reel viewership by almost +400%. My time with the Men's Lacrosse team was also the foundation for my Honors Program thesis on Transformational Leadership and Its Impact on Team Success. In my four years at Bellarmine, I also served in several executive leadership positions including: PR/Campus Events chairwoman for Phi Mu Rho Zeta, and Associate Director and PR/Marketing chair for Bellarmine University Dance Marathon, a student-led philanthropic organization benefitting Norton Children's Hospital in Louisville, KY and Children's Miracle Network. I began my Marketing Communications Director position with the American Heart Association in February 2025. Throughout my time with the Association, I have had the opportunity to engage with the New York City community by facilitating access to life-saving CPR trainings, working with our Community Impact staff to improve the well-being of underserved individuals, and advocating for legislation that advances the mission of our organization.
