I lead AI capability evaluations (ACE) in RAND’s Technology and Security Policy (TASP) Center. My work focuses on developing technical and policy interventions to address large-scale risks posed by broadly capable AI systems. I was previously a technology advisor at the UK’s competition regulator, the Competition and Markets Authority; a research associate at the Alan Turing Institute, the UK's national institute for data science and AI; and a policy researcher at the Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation, an advisory body to the UK government on trustworthy use of data and AI. I have a PhD in social statistics from the University of Manchester.
