About Ella Woolcock

I’m currently working for the National Trust as an Area Ranger on the Riverlands Bollin Project, delivering freshwater habitat restoration across rivers, wetlands, moorlands, woodlands, and grasslands. I’m positive and pragmatic, with a clear goal: to contribute to nature-based recovery solutions at a landscape scale. I graduated with a First in Zoology from Hartpury University, where I also completed a placement year with Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust. My dissertation focused on the status of the brown hare population and how to improve its habitat. In 2023–2024, I joined Ecosulis as a Business Intern through their Internship Programme, gaining valuable experience in rewilding consultancy and nature-based solution delivery. I’ve also volunteered with Natural England, Devon Wildlife Trust, the Devon Mammal Group, and South West Lakes Trust, all of which deepened my passion for habitat restoration and nature recovery. I’m particularly interested not just in conserving habitats, but in restoring ecosystems and reinstating natural processes that allow biodiversity to thrive. I believe we can’t continue doing things the way we always have, we need bold, innovative strategies to return landscapes to rich, resilient ecosystems. I’m committed to being part of that solution.
