About Ellane Barcelon
My research focuses on the regulatory role of midbrain astrocytes and neurons in fear and defensive behaviors and their dysregulation. I have years of experience doing in vivo experiments, stereotaxic surgeries, animal behavior tests, calcium imaging techniques (both in vivo and in vitro), confocal microscopy, and cellular and molecular experiments. I have also mentored interns and students, and worked with teams studying neuropathic pain, depressive and anxiety behaviors, social hierarchy, and social behaviors in light of neuron-glia communication.
