About Ellen Bowers

Until recently I have never known exactly what I want to pursue as a career, but I have always had a love for economics and global financial interactions since I first began studying economics as a subject in the sixth form. My previous work experiences, such as work shadowing in auditing at KPMG for a week in 2019 and a group experience a JPMorgan for a week in 2018, have helped me learn more about potential career ideas, including accounting and technology. My ever-growing interest in economics, which I would like to continue after university, has led to my choices of analyst and research type roles in an international financial institution, specifically within private banking. I have continued to work towards expanding my knowledge on the international economy at university through my second year economics module choices which include ‘international economics’ and ‘contemporary industrial relations’ as well as through keeping up to date on current global economic events through reading the economist, but I would love to learn more about capital structuring and investment decisions in a working environment, which is why a graduate job at a successful investment bank, that could potentially become a lifetime career, is a major goal of mine.I believe one of, if not the most, important aspect of a person aiming to achieve a specific career is having a love and genuine interest for the subject as it makes the individual strive to work harder and succeed within the company, which is a characteristic I hold confidently.
