About Ellen Danneels
I have always had an interest in teaching and training other people. Hence, my teaching job at a highschool (1 year), assistant job at Ghent University (7 years) and involvement in workshops, practical exercises and guiding sessions for schools and students at Honeybee Valley (more than 8 years). Also during my PhD, I trained and guided students during their thesis, projects, practical exercises. I gained a strong interest in insects and more specifically honey bees. Scientifically, but also personally, I am very passionate about working with this social insect. I am involved in several European projects that work on honey bee decline and I take great pleasure in distributing the results to a wider audience. Science should be approachable to everyone. In 2018, I started beekeeping and am constantly learning about honey bees every day.
