About Ellen Makar

As we move into a period of increased energy demand and costs, business leaders and engineers alike are searching for innovation that allows greater control over energy costs, supply, and environmental impact. Running a specialized engineering company, with customers across North America and around the globe, ECC helps customers address these challenges as it continues its mission to “provide practical solutions to pressing world energy problems” Specifically, through its specialized knowledge of heat powered absorption cycle technology, ECC engineering equipment has been adopted by customers from a wide range of industries including oil and gas, food and beverage processing and hospitality. An example of one industry where ECC is experiencing growing success is found amongst midstream gas pipeline owners through the company’s ThermoCharger air cooled Turbine Inlet Air Cooling (TIAC) system. The TIAC system increases gas flow in natural gas pipelines by improving the performance of turbines at compressor stations. By providing the inlet air cooling, powered by waste heat from the turbine exhaust, turbine compressors operate at peak efficiency, maximum throughput, and lowest emissions, year-round. As a result, pipeline operators can maintain optimal and highly consistent levels of throughput even during the hottest days which, in turn, allows for the maximization of revenues from firm contracts. I’m keen to share insights and ideas with engineers and executives from midstream companies looking for ways to apply engineering innovation in order to generate financial and environmental benefits.
