About Ellen McIntosh

I am passionate about many different aspects of science and health, but I have a particular interest in dementia research and effectively communicating this in a way everyone can access and understand. Throughout university I deepened my love of science and gained a First Class Honours degree in Biology from the University of Lincoln. I was able to develop research skills and knowledge about conservation, and human biology, and undertook a research project in South Africa looking at the health of ungulates and deepened my knowledge of rhino conservation. My final year project looked at links between stroke and genetics using Python, R and other software. I went on to complete a Masters by Research in Integrative Neuroscience at the University of Edinburgh. I worked with Dr Jill Fowler to research white matter damage and inflammatory markers in stroke which was where I honed my interest in dementia research. This background led me to careers in science communications across the charity sector and now currently within health innovation. I have extended my skills to cover content production, social media, video creation, PR and campaign work.
