About Ellen Miller

Ellen is an accomplished professional with expertise in finance, management, talent development and corporate governance gained in a 30+ year career in Finance and Higher Education. Her current portfolio seeks to balance a mix of NED Board positions with leadership/executive coaching and consulting. She was a Managing Director of Lehman Brothers where she was employed from 1991-2008 in a range of roles, principally in Fixed Income, where she was COO and a member of the divisional operating committee and latterly in Strategy and Human Resources where she ran all of European Graduate Recruiting and early stage Training and Development. Ellen has global experience working in Investment Banking (Corporate Finance, M&A, Debt Capital Markets), Fixed Income (Syndicate, Research and Senior Management) and Human Resources (Strategy, Recruiting, Training and Development). Ellen moved to Higher Education in 2008 following collaborative work with London Business School whilst still at Lehman Brothers. She worked full-time, part-time and continues as an external coach and consultant to the School, delivering leadership coaching on degree programmes and working with the organisational behaviour faculty on key projects. In her full-time roles at LBS, from 2014-2017, Ellen was responsible for coaching and delivering a full suite of career development tools to the most senior degree programme students and all the School’s alumni. She has extensive career and leadership coaching experience across all degree programmes and is a 2012 graduate of the Meyler Campbell Business Coaching Programme, is recognised as a certified practitioner by the British Psychological Society and qualified in NEO/TalentSage 5Step personality tools. She has served on a number of charitable, educational and development boards in the UK and Europe; including the Advisory Committee for Management Education at INSEAD, the Advisory Board of SDA Bocconi School of Management, Milan, the Bodleian Library of Oxford University, the Higher Education Funding Council of England’s Sub-Committee on Employability and Skills, the City of London Festival and Policy Exchange. She also served as Director and Treasurer of Women2Win from 2012-2015. Ellen is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (BA, 1983) and holds dual nationality (US/UK).
