About Ellen Oshinsky

I believe in the power of building communities rooted in collaboration, curiosity and kindness. I use my strengths as a community builder and people person to catalyze change for justice, social innovation and Jewish life through sustaining and strengthening Avodah’s place in the Washington DC region as a fundraiser. One of the most joyous ways to harness curiosity is to get outside and as the founder and environmental educator of DMV EcoAdventures, I connect DC youth to play, to wonder and to adventure through outdoor education after school programs. As an ardent retreat goer and student of life, I believe one of the most powerful ways to spark transformation is to bring together a group of individuals to reflect and to grow together over the course of a retreat. My knack for logistics and detail oriented communication has brought together two weekend retreats focused on self and communal care through a Jewish lens. Through my previous work including with the NYC Department of Education, Audubon New York, and Deer Valley Resort, I have created communities rooted in inclusivity and wonder that welcome individuals into cultivating a deeper connection to themselves, others and the world.
