About Ellen Renaud

Over the past 20 years, I've held several different positions in social work. The first position was in child protection as an on-going family service worker for seven years. My second position was as an intervention worker with youth on probation for 3 years. Following this position moved into the position as a children's community mental health clinician for eight years. Finally I recently moved into the position of program supervisor of the children’s counselling and therapy program. As a Social Worker, I would describe myself as a generic therapist. I work with children and families who are experiencing a wide range of mental health challenges from anxiety, depression, trauma, sex-offending and personality disorders. I work with individuals, their family and community connections (school, community agencies and health care professionals). I have an Honours Bachelor of Social Work and I am currently completing my Master of Social Work. I truly enjoy my current position however I am always looking for a new challenge. My goal in the future will be to teach part-time in the social work program at either the college or university level. As well I am considering branching out on my own part-time to offer adult mental health services, once I have completed my MSW.
