About Ellie Olson

I am a founding partner in Williams Olson Consulting. My areas of expertise are in standards of care, guideline driven care, cardiac arrest management, failure to rescue issues, critical care and acute care, home-based nursing care, and research. I am board certified as a critical care nurse. Our seasoned professionals practice with integrity, applying our nursing experience and expertise to legal decision making. We are experts at medical record analysis and at evaluation of potential risks and claims. My clinical practice is on the CVICU at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) hospital in Portland—I am a staff nurse, charge nurse, and rapid response nurse; I have been a nurse at OHSU for over ten years. I am also faculty at the OHSU School of Nursing, teaching in senior level courses. I have championed innovative strategies to identify and manage deteriorating patients and improve code team performance with debriefing in two IRB-approved research projects. I have presented at regional and national conferences on a variety of topics of interest to critical care providers, including stroke identification and critical management, code blue debriefing, and the utility of electronic health record based algorithms to predict clinical deterioration and cardiac arrest in hospitalized adult patients. I obtained my master's degree in nursing from Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, and my bachelor's degree from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. I completed my nursing degree at Clark College in Vancouver, Washington.
