About Elliot Sumner

My primary role at Audinate is the production and/or management of technical documentation for the entire product suite. I have been the only full-time technical writer at the company since I started with them in 2011. My initial major assignment was to transition the main body of Audinate's technical information suite from MS Word and manual web publishing to a dedicated technical authoring environment (Madcap Flare), with automated multi-format publishing to the web server. Since then the technical information suite has evolved to over 70 major projects maintained and published in Flare, with a range of support documents in various other formats. The documentation suite spans OEM technical documents (hardware programming and integration, API programming, technical datasheets, SDK user guides etc.) through software developer content to end user guides for our consumer software tools. I also manage the online publishing of our firmware, software and IP Core products, plus SDKs and supporting tools, to our OEM and end user customers, averaging about 1 product release per day (a mix of GA and bespoke releases). I manage our direct communication channels with our OEM customers. I also function as a subject matter expert and internal consultant in areas such as product delivery and order fulfilment, quality processes, UI design and general customer experience. Our team performs many technical and process design roles to maintain operational continuity. I am currently in the process of implementing a company-wide DMS. Audinate is based in Sydney, but I work remotely from Queensland with occasional visits to the Sydney office to eat their biscuits.
