About Ellis Rigby
I started out as a CNC engineer in a small company, working on one-offs, batch, and mass production. After years on the shop floor, I wanted to learn more and enrolled at Tameside College as a student. A few months in, I saw an opportunity to work there and applied, becoming a Technical Support Officer (TSO) supporting engineering workshops while continuing to learn on the job. That hands-on experience gave me the confidence to step fully into teaching, which has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. Now, as a engineering teacher, I use my industry background and lived experience, including managing dyslexia,to help learners grow, feel seen, and succeed in a system that doesn’t always work for everyone.
