The overall goal of the laboratory is to unravel inflammation and hypoxia regulated transcriptional signaling network that affect genes associated with survival, resistance to apoptosis and immune evasion in one of the most malignant of human brain tumors- Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). The highly resistant nature of these tumors to chemotherapy has also prompted us to dissect mechanisms that confer their resistance to apoptosis, and to identify new treatment strategies that can manipulate hypoxia and inflammation mediated aberrant signaling events to induce apoptosis.
