Background
About Elsa Williamson
I am currently the Math Coach at a K-8 public school. I get the opportunity to not only work with students, but also with teachers. This allows me to make sure that the proper instruction is being done and that students are making the learning strives that they are capable of. I run the professional learning community for the math department and also lead/mentor the new teachers/paraprofessionals that are at the school in all grades.I was an elementary school teacher that always strived to help students reach their full potential when it comes to education. I believe that if you take the time to show students how much they are capable of, then the sky is the limit for them. I was a paraprofessional for a K-8 charter school where I taught all K-8 in art. I am a 3rd year teacher in Broward County Schools. I received my Bachelors in Elementary Education K-6 from Florida Atlantic University. I will be finishes my Dual Degree Master's in Educational Leadership and Curriculum & Instruction this June through American College of Education. I am reading and ESOL endorsed. I have been teaching 4th grade for the past three years. My first year I taught reading, writing and social studies. For the past two years I have been teaching math and science. I currently am part of the Dual Language program where I teach the Spanish portion to the students. I am also the head of the school's SAC or School Advisory Committee where we meet monthly to discuss with parents what is going on at the school and allow them to give input with the School Improvement Plan.My first year teaching I was scored as an effective teacher after having the lowest-quartile students. Last year I was scored highly effective while working with the middle to high achieving students. I had 98% of my students make learning gains and every single student passed the state test. I do expect my students to always give their full effort in everything that they do and believe that is why my students perform well because I do not allow them to settle. I also tutor students in grades K-8 in multiple subjects that they may need help in.
