About Elyse Harrison

In early 2017, I graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Science (Wildlife and Conservation Biology). Following my graduation, I undertook a cadetship through the university as an Assistant Field Researcher with the Research Centre for Applied Alpine Ecology. During this time, I took residency in Falls Creek and helped map the spread of invasive weeds and monitor deer activity to determine their effect on alpine vegetation. For the remainder of 2017, I continued in my fourth year as a Supervisor at Pet Barn Pty Ltd. In mid-2018, I returned from six months work overseas, where I was a Cast Member / Attractions Hostess at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. I then took up a position with Ecology and Heritage Partners, where I was initially employed as a Technical Officer (Botany). In July 2020, I was promoted to the position of Botanist where my responsibilities were expanded to include contributing to the development of internal company policies and procedures, the building and maintaining of client relationships, and the management of more complex projects. In July 2021, I was promoted to the position of Consultant Botanist. In March 2022, I joined the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP), now known as the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), in the role of a Natural Environment Programs Officer. I am also an aspiring author, hoping to share my stories with the world. In 2018, I was published in a shared-universe anthology called Planet Bastard (Volume 1). I have also launched a comic strip,'Coop Tales', which is about the adventures of three chickens: Matilda, Margaret and Jane, and an online comic book,'To the Moon and Back', which is about the relationship between a stray cat and an abandoned puppy.
