I don't know where I'm going from here, but I promise it won't be boring."- David Bowie At 16, my professional journey began as I took my first job as a barista working for Starbucks. I would spend the next 6 years of my life there learning how to be a reliable and hard-working employee, understanding what it means to be part of, and support, a professional team, and finding the true value in human connection. Within 3 years, I had been promoted to store manager of one of the highest volume stores in the district and consistently ranked in the top 3 highest performing in the district. From there, I continued to work in F&B, briefly branching out into tangential hospitality. I worked in several restaurants and bars (from late-night tacos to five-star dining) as a floor manager or supervisor. After nearly a decade, I burned out on that industry and made my transition into behavioral health and substance abuse rehabilitation. I started as an entry-level residential technician working on-site with clients and was quickly promoted to a supervisorial role within a 6 month period, however, the schedule was demanding and allowed little to no work/life balance. From there, I continued my work in that field, shifting to a more "BOH" administrative position. Ultimately, switching to an 'office job' would be the catalyst for a new and exciting trajectory into various components of business management. Initially, I worked in Insurance/Claims but eventually migrated to Utilization & Review and ultimately, through a series of bizarre events, found myself in the executive office managing AP/AR. It was there that I was given the opportunity to shine and exemplify much of my professional knowledge. I was mentored by the CFO in multiple aspects of accounting and business operation, which led to my becoming Director of Operations & Executive Office Manager. I have continued to broaden my account management knowledge, working most recently in real estate/construction development (commercial, residential, mixed-use) where I managed anywhere from 6-10 active project accounts. I am adaptable, quite comfortable wearing many hats, teachable, trainable, and not afraid to take on new or different tasks. I maintain a strong sense of integrity, honesty, accountability, am self-motivated, not afraid to ask questions, not afraid of saying "I don't know" if I don't know (but will try to find the answer.) I think laughter and levity is important in the workplace, necessary even. Above all else, I still hold true to human connection - it matters.
