With a Bachelor's degree in Music and a Master's in Teaching, I bring a unique blend of academic knowledge and practical experience to my work. During my academic journey, I had the privilege of delving into a subject that is close to my heart. My dissertation, titled "Female Trombonists' Experiences of Gender Bias," sheds light on the challenges faced by talented women in the brass industry. I am proud to share that this research has made a significant impact, with over 350 downloads, sparking conversations and inspiring change in the music community. Throughout my career, I have had the pleasure of working closely with high school marching bands, where I have honed my expertise in teaching low brass techniques and marching techniques. Collaborating with talented young musicians, I have witnessed the transformative power of music as it builds discipline, teamwork, and a sense of accomplishment. My journey as an educator has taken me to diverse classrooms, where I have made a lasting impact on students' lives. I student taught for one year at a middle school, guiding budding musicians in their instrumental journeys, and also worked with elementary school students, nurturing their love for music through engaging general music classes. Notably, I am proud to have achieved an honors score of 56 on the edTPA assessment, which exemplifies my commitment to delivering high-quality instruction and meeting the needs of every student. This accomplishment reinforces my belief in the importance of continuous growth and improvement as an educator. I am eager to connect with like-minded professionals who are passionate about music education, promoting gender equality, and creating meaningful experiences for students.
