About Emanuele Celauro
My research interests include genetics and development, cell and molecular biology, genome editing and advanced cell culture. My current project: safety assessment on novel CRISPR-based base editors as potential therapeutic treatments of genetic diseases. Previous postdoc projects: creating and characterizing new cell models to study amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, using genetically-engineered (CRISPR-Cas9) human neuroblastoma cells; establishment of mouse and zebrafish models using microinjections of nucleic acids into individual embryonic blastomeres (2- and 4-cell stages), to study and manipulate embriogenesis. I have an extensive hands-on experience in molecular and cell biology, with CRISPR/Cas cell engineering technologies and within the field of RNA modifications. My typical workflow involves creative manipulation of nucleic acids, genetic engineering, cell culture (bacterial and mammalian cells), transfection/electroporation, confocal microscopy and full downstream analysis.
