About Eme Ekeng

I am a long standing medical laboratory scientist, demonstrating over 10 years’ experience within a range of hospital and clinical environment. Currently working for the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, I provide expert sampling, microscopy, analysis and reporting for a wide range of bacterial pathogens. Specializing in Antimicrobial Resistance, cholera, diphtheria and cerebrospinal meningitis, I also deliver educational programs and technical expertise throughout Nigerian meningitis, and the cholera belt. As an expert in my field, I provide recommendations towards national protocols and guidelines for CSM, cholera and AMR surveillance, as well as having assisted in multiple HIV/AIDS initiatives. I am highly competent at routine and referral laboratory practices, able to identify potential methods to improve efficiency, turnaround or safety practices. I thrive at process optimization and endeavour to support all aspects of public health, as a keen medical professional, having contributed toward the NCDC’s Laboratory Quality Management Systems and supporting the functions of the large-scale laboratory network. I continuously develop my academic and practical knowledge, having undertaken multiple additional workshops and training schemes with global healthcare representatives. Connected with several multinational professional associations, such as being a registered member of the Medical Laboratory Council of Nigeria, member of the Health and Care Professions Council, and AMR Surveillance Skilled Professionals of African Society of Laboratory Medicine, I am highly qualified and accredited throughout the field.
