About Emil Rising

I have 10+ years of experience as a Technical Leader, Senior Manager and Full-Stack web developer, even though I have built websites since the mid-1990s. I love working with people, although technology can change the world it is the people that create the technology that is the true wonder. I am a generalist first and excel in bridging the gap between technology and operations. My greatest achievements are not the systems I have built (even though some of them are very cool indeed), but the Teams I have created and the value these teams have brought to the companies I have worked with. My greatest sense of fulfillment is when I can play to my people’s strengths and work on their development and see them grow not only in their work roles but also as individuals. Praise for great achievements I take care to always allot to the person that did the work, but failures are my cross to bear. I believe that we should dare to challenge ourselves and learn from our mistakes, many times they teach us more than our successes. I value flat prestigeless organizations with shared goals and responsibilities. Although I normally like to trust my gut feeling, I’m not big on guessing, so I love data and architecture in all its forms and like to break down complicated challenges into tangible goals. Building organizations, workflows, and processes are something I care deeply about, not for the sake of structure in itself but for how when they work, we are given time to work on that which is truly important (and fun).
