About Emil Saaby

My area of expertise is merging play and design processes, to make the best experience as possible. The designs I make aims to create play experiences in which people are invited to briefly let go of their everyday problems and appreciate their surroundings. I believe that play experiences have a big role in how we understand the world around us and I recognize this from my own childhood. As a young boy, I would use my imagination in play a lot, which guided my way of thinking in a more creative direction. That is why I believe, that being in touch with my inner child, is a great advantage for me as a designer. The best way to design for children is, in my opinion, by designing with them. I'm fascinated by play as a driver for implicit learning and my experience with design processes tells me, that sitting on the floor, playing with a child for 10 minutes, is way better, than a 30 minutes’ interview at a table with five children.
