About Emily Atkinson

I have been following a new career path in arts administration for the last two years, and am excited to see where that leads me. I have been especially excited to work with our artists in residence program, our film festival, and our art retreats. I'm a certified Art Teacher with over 21 years experience in Secondary Education and Adult Education. As a leader in the schools and districts where I've worked, I have written district-wide curriculum and assessments, led school improvement projects, performed staff development, and created new clubs and classes. I also have experience in outdoor education and environmental stewardship; educational technology; educational travel and workshop/event planning, along with summer camps and adult institutes. I've had training in numerous educational ideologies, including Understanding by Design and Discipline Based Art Education, along with contemporary social theory and multicultural awareness. Many of these concepts translate directly into non-Educational workplace environments.
