About Emily Barlog

Hello! My name is Emily Barlog, I have 8 years of industry experience since graduating in 2017 from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor’s in Landscape Architecture. I have been involved in projects ranging from community parks, school campuses, single and multi-family housing, fire revegetation, playground designs, and large park master plans. As a lead designer, I have excelled in shaping a variety of unique parks throughout Ventura County, Isla Vista, and the Santa Clarita Valley, each an artistic blend of functionality, ecology, and the stakeholder’s specific needs. Over the last year, I have collaborated on a wide range of playgrounds, from inclusive playgrounds that provide a space for children of all abilities to socialize and play together, to natural playgrounds that spark curiosity and encourage connection to the natural world. I am a SITES Accredited Professional, which dovetails perfectly with my broader commitment to designing and delivering sustainable, climate positive landscapes within the built environment. Paired with a deep appreciation for California native flora, as well as having a deep passion for pollinators, conservation, and habitat creation, I highly value the process of plant selection with each project. Using drought tolerant, native, and regionally adapted plant combinations to create beautiful, diverse, and resilient landscapes, our landscapes become essential in supporting local ecologies and combating climate change. My experience includes conceptual and schematic design, plant selection and planting design, 3D modeling, irrigation design, construction documentation and construction administration.
